Overview

The next generation of prosthetic technology.

Discover the next generation of prosthetic technology, where trusted reliability meets modern control and connectivity. At the heart of the system is the speedhand, paired with modular wrists, the intuitive myosmart control, the myosmart cuff and the connectgrip app — together delivering unmatched functionality and ease of use.

The speedhand offers exactly what matters most: speed, strength and durability. With up to four electrodes it can be tailored more than ever to each user’s unique needs, including preferred speeds, switching signals and grips. The naturally resting thumb gives the hand a relaxed appearance, ideal for everyday tasks like slipping into a jacket. With the optional spring-loaded flex modular wrist option, you gain added range of motion, making many daily movements smoother and more natural.

Choose from four modular wrist options to tailor the system precisely to your needs, abilities and routines. And with the connectgrip app, you can easily fine-tune your prosthesis, anytime, anywhere — for control that truly fits your life.

Wrist options

Flexible fit: one hand, four modular wrist options.

The speedhand is the shortest myoelectric hand, with a compact design that delivers greater functionality with no added build height. The speedhand pairs with a range of modular wrists — flexible, rotating or supportive — to adapt to your daily needs. With multiple build heights available, each option offers a personalised fit that integrates naturally into your daily routine.

The speedhand features a unique spring-loaded wrist option — the flexion wrist — that gives users a greater degree of freedom and can reduce compensatory movements in many everyday tasks, while improving body posture. The wrist lock at five different increments adds extra security for more complex movements.

Smart control

Smarter, more intuitive prosthetic control.

myosmart pattern recognition lite control

myosmart

myosmart is the latest addition to our pattern recognition product family and can be fitted to both above- and below-elbow users. With up to four electrodes, the system learns your individual movements and switching signals, and delivers smoother, more intuitive control with less effort. Powered by advanced signal processing and machine learning, myosmart offers user-defined proportional control. It bridges the gap between standard control and full pattern recognition — a “Pattern Recognition Lite” experience that brings many of the benefits of advanced systems with less training time.

connectgrip app for the speedhand

connectgrip

For clinicians and new users, connectgrip offers powerful support tools. It translates muscle signals into a dynamic visual display of the user’s myoelectric activity, helping identify signal hotspots and guide training with greater precision. With clear visual feedback you can optimise electrode placement during set up, support early signal training and customise the hand to each user’s needs. The app enables a guided fitting process and lets users adapt the prosthesis behaviour to suit their daily routine.

What users often want to know about the speedhand solution.

Yes. The Ottobock portfolio has two elbow options — ErgoArm and DynamicArm — for amputations above the elbow. Your prosthetist will be able to provide detailed advice on all aspects of a potential fitting and the benefits of myosmart and the connectgrip app.

No, the speedhand cannot be used in water. We offer the Skeo Up Daily Assist (14Y4) for use in wet areas and for personal hygiene tasks such as shaving or brushing teeth.

No. Most touchscreens do not recognise the inner or outer glove materials of the speedhand as conductive, so they aren’t detected as “touch fingers.”

Every user is unique, learning at their own pace and with different needs, motivations and training intensity. Successful operation of the speedhand depends on these individual factors. Under optimal conditions, the prosthesis can be integrated into daily use after approximately a couple of months. The connectgrip app allows you to make various adjustments yourself and experiment with them without losing the settings previously made by your prosthetist.

We offer several battery options with different capacities and sizes to match each user’s needs. The goal is a full day of operation, but this can vary depending on daily use of the hand.

The speedhand is a state-of-the-art myoelectric-controlled prosthesis. It operates using 2 to 4 non-invasive surface sensors (electrodes) that contact the skin. These sensors detect residual muscle activity in the limb, allowing users to voluntarily open or close the hand. In combination with the connectgrip app, control is customised to each user’s muscle signals — enabling reliable and personalised opening and closing of the hand, bending and extending of the elbow, and optional additional functions.

The speedhand features a “tripod” grip pattern, where the index and ring fingers move in opposition to the thumb. This allows for an opening of up to 10 cm for grasping objects.

The speedhand can be used by people with both above- and below-elbow amputations or with dysmelia, either unilateral or bilateral. Thanks to the short build height even those with longer residual limbs can benefit from the speedhand. It can be integrated into either a new or existing socket. A fitting includes all the components in a customised socket and the correct settings for the hand, which will be adjusted by your prosthetist.

The connectgrip app offers individually tailored control, customised to your needs and capabilities. It visualises muscle signals through biofeedback and allows you to independently adjust parameters such as speed and muscle tension. You can also create your own motion recordings to compensate for unwanted prosthetic behaviour. The neutral position of the speedhand can be individually adjusted to achieve a more natural appearance.

Yes. The app works on both device types and screen sizes with Android 12 or iOS 15 and later. It is available for free in the respective app stores.
