What users want to know about the Genium X4.
The Genium X4 is a great choice for several different kinds of users: • Active to highly active individuals who want to unlock their full potential with an exceptionally responsive, durable and customisable knee prosthesis • Users who want a waterproof, corrosion-resistant knee that can be used in wet environments (e.g. swimming, boating, showering) • Bilateral amputees who need advanced support for many different everyday activities
The Genium X4 can only be fitted by clinicians who have been certified by Ottobock. If you would like to try out this knee, you will need to schedule a trial fitting with one of these clinicians. The trial period will be scheduled for a specific amount of time, and will be monitored by Ottobock when needed.
Depending on your unique condition and circumstances, it can sometimes take several days or even weeks to fully adjust to using the Genium X4 in everyday situations. However, some users are able to take stairs step-over-step on their first day with the prosthesis.
During the Genium X4 fitting process, your prosthetist will customise and assemble all the components selected for your prosthesis. That includes the Genium X4 knee, an appropriate prosthetic socket and a prosthetic foot. Regular service inspections are also included.
Up to five days depending on several factors, including your activity level and the environments you're walking in. When the battery level falls below 20%, a vibration and an acoustic signal will give a timely alert that it's time for a recharge. If the battery is completely drained, the Genium X4 gives an acoustic warning signal and automatically switches to safety mode. For further information please check the IFU.

Yes, you can! The Genium X4 has an IP68 rating, which means the electronic components are waterproof (see IFU for details). It's also corrosion-resistant, so it can be fully submerged in fresh, salt or chlorinated water without losing functionality.
