Peter walking with his Kenevo MPK

Real Life Stories

Peter's Kenevo Story.

Amputee father of ten sets his sights on walking his daughter down the aisle thanks to his life-changing microprocessor knee.

Peter — never falling on the Kenevo.

Peter, 58, was used to long hours on his feet as a hair stylist before lymphoedema began causing chronic swelling. After a 2014 car accident his condition worsened, with repeated leg ulcers leading to life-threatening Sepsis episodes. For more than five years he was unable to walk unaided. In autumn 2023, his medical team agreed that an above-knee amputation was the right path forward.

Following his amputation, Peter began rehab using a Femurett — an early walking prosthetic aid. In just six weeks he had mastered walking with a free knee out of parallel bars and was competent on stairs. His progress led his team to recommend a microprocessor knee as his first prosthesis.

He was prescribed the Kenevo. “I felt confident on the Kenevo as soon as I started using it. I had a lot of falls both before and immediately after my amputation, but I've never fallen on the Kenevo. There were a few times in the first couple of weeks where I stumbled and I could actively feel the knee stopping me from falling.”

The Kenevo's Stumble Recovery Plus covers the entire swing phase, providing the highest level of safety. The knee is already prepared on every step, so there is no reaction time. With this safety net Peter focused on his goal: walking his daughter down the aisle — back in his stride and back in his family's life.

Confidence in every step.
